When travelling overseas, especially to third world countries, it is good if you are able to understand at least a few words in the local language. This will help you achieve rapport with the locals and also save on some embarrassment when trying to make yourself understood.

Today's lesson is in Kiwi, the native language of the New Zealanders. By using this easy guide, you too can hold a simple conversation with a New Zealander. The first part is the Kiwi, followed by brief explanation.

PECK: As in 'I'm pecking a suitcase'.
PISSED ASIDE: Chemical which terminates insects
PIGS: Used to hang out washing
PUMP: To act as agent for prostitute
PUG:Large farm animal
NIN TIN DOUGH: Computer game company
MUNNER STRONEY: Soup
MIN: Male of the species
MESS KARA: Eye make-up
McKENNOCK: Person who fixes cars
MERE: Mayor
LEATHER: Foam produced from soap
LEFT: To leave
KIRI PECKER: Australian businessman
KITTLE CRUSPS: Potato chips
KENS: Cairns, another popular destination
JUNGLE BILLS: Xmas carol
INNER ME: Enemy
FUSH: Marine creatures
